ECO™ by Cosentino

ECO™ by Cosentino is a durable surface made of 75% recycled content composed of post-industrial or post-consumer materials and is bound by an environmentally friendly resin which comes in part from corn oil. ECO™ by Cosentino is also an ideal substitute for natural or engineered stone.

Americans recycle nearly 13 million glass jars and bottles every day. Glass never wears out – it can be recycled forever. The production of ECO™ is expected to reuse the equivalent of 60 million glass bottles every year!

What is ECO™ made from?

There are other eco-friendly surfacing materials in the market today. ECO™ by Cosentino reutilizes materials that have reached the end of their life cycle, thus saving on the creation and consumption of natural resources.

Advantages of using Recycled Raw Materials

Post-consumer/Post-industrial Mirror
Materials used to produce ECO™ by Cosentino are post-consumer and post-industrial waste. The advantage of this is that the material being used has no other lifecycle. For example, every year tons of broken mirror is wasted all over the world because there is no other use for the material.

Post-consumer Recycled Glass
Producing ECO™ by Cosentino results in the salvation of raw materials and reduction in new mining (3000 bottles equals 1Tn of raw materials). It also reduces the amount of bottles going to landfills, which helps the problem of uncontrolled trash. Every year we expect to recycle the equivalent of 65 million glass bottles!

Post-consumer Waste
Garbage accumulation all over the world is a fast growing problem as consumer consumption increases. The source of raw materials is almost infinite (iron scrap) and it undergoes a burning process that is highly efficient. Quitariamos iron scrap.

Post-industrial Ceramic
Material from bathrooms, dishes, cups, shower pans and defective porcelain tiles. There is no other use for this material – it cannot be incorporated into any other industrial product.

This material is reused in the production of ECO™ by Cosentino which saves building up tons of waste in landfills year after year.

Good waste management processes must incorporate the recycling and reutilization of products and materials as a way to contribute towards the preservation of our environment. Social responsibility grows day to day not only from the consumer stand point, using eco-friendly and recycled products, but also from a manufacturer’s stand point as we consider the growing concern of national and international environmental and legal groups.

Cosentino maintains guidelines for the continuous improvement and development of eco-friendly processes through innovation and technology achieved by our investment and commitment to the environment.

The growth of Cosentino is directly linked to its eco-friendly practices that respect, protect and rebuild the environment, from the early stages of mining and transformation of our products, and raw material sourcing all the way through our distribution.

During the manufacturing process of ECO™ by Cosentino, 94% of the water used is recycled, thus minimizing the consumption of a very important resource. All of the minerals used in the production of ECO™ by Cosentino come from quarries that are fully restored under strict stewardship programs and the manufacturing process is strictly controlled to avoid emissions of any harmful particles into the air.

Americans recycle nearly 13 million glass jars and bottles every day. Glass never wears out – it can be recycled forever. Every month, American´s throw out enough glass bottles and jars to fill up a giant skyscraper. A glass bottle can take up to one million years to breakdown but the energy saved from recycling one glass bottle can run a 100-watt light bulb for four hours. It also causes 20% less air pollution and 50% less water pollution than when a new bottle is made from raw materials. The production of ECO™ by Cosentino is expected to reuse the equivalent of 60 million glass bottles every year!

Glass containers are 100 percent recyclable, they can be recycled endlessly; and ECO™ by Cosentino. Recycled glass is used as the majority ingredient in new glass containers.

Every ton of glass that is recycled results in one ton of raw materials saved to process new glass, including: 1,300 pounds of sand, 410 pounds of soda ash and 380 pounds of limestone.
